The kingdom of heaven is like a wardrobe door. Its presence is simple, humble, and ignored. Once seen, once opened, it leads to unimaginable beauty and unexpected depth. There are temptations which can corrupt us and turn us into the worst versions of ourselves, and dangers to challenge us and transform us into great warriors or great healers, kings and queens of an otherworldly realm. It is best known by those who enter with the spirit of a child.
(The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis was originally published on October 16, 1950. It was the first-published volume of The Chronicles of Narnia.)
