- Blogotional is written by the prolific John Schroeder. Here, one of his pieces that I appreciated, he observes how our market-driven church is just about backwards from what we're trying to accomplish. (Have you ever wondered whether Jesus would take a whip of cords and drive the coffee shop out of the church?)
- CADRE Comments is a group blog that often works to counter the atheist/humanist attacks on Christianity; one of the pieces that caught my eye this year is Does Atheism Promote Kindness?
- Dr. Platypus has interests that fit together as strangely as his namesake -- and to the same interesting effect. To get the hang of the contrast, see his posts on classical timelines / ancient chronologies, and on attempts at DNA sequencing for the Yeti.
- Forward Progress asks whether disbelief in hell is a luxury of an affluent society.
- Hyperekperissou - Phil explains that patristics is about so much more than theological technicalities in Practical Patristics.
- Kyrie, Eleison - Anastasia re-reads Hamlet and sees a few things I never heard mentioned by anyone else.
- Leithart writes about the place of the sermon in the whole of the worship service.
- Meta's Blog is a solo blog (with occasional guest posts), focusing on academic scholarship from a liberal point of view, and dialog with atheism. Here Meta chips in on the discussion started at CADRE Comments on whether atheism promotes kindness, reasoning that A Kind God Makes You Kind.
- The Pocket Scroll blogs about a modern stylite (a monk who lives on top of a tall pillar) and considers whether there is a time and a place for this kind of ascetic path.
- Sun and Shield posts on a variety of topics; my personal favorites include the weekly Sunspots series and book reviews, like the review on Lawhead's Robin Hood trilogy.
- Undivided Looking - Aron Wall enjoys a good theological challenge, as you can read in Does the Atonement Make Ethical Sense?
- Weedon's Blog - Pastor Weedon posted a Litany and Grace for Thanksgiving Day that is a welcome addition to public prayer.
Ancient Hebrew Poetry was on something of a hiatus this year, as were Rev Cwirla's Blogosphere and Thin Places. Here's hoping for their return to blogging.
